DOMA's days are numbered

The new Court will sit this Fall with the first Latina in its history on the bench. I am a habitual Court watcher and I am going to make a guess. Massachusetts' challenge of DOMA (the ill named Defense of Marriage Act) will succeed. This particularly bad law fails both liberal and conservative tests and it is simply not going to survive a challenge.

I am still confused as to why she is the first Hispanic on the court. Why doesn't a Portuguese judge count as Hispanic? Maybe it is the political need for "firsts"

If there is one criticism of Americans that cannot be defended it is our short historical perspective. She is the 'first Hispanic' in the media's mind because they simply do not remember well.
