aliens among us

From the Gospel of Mathew Chapter 25
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Jesus as quoted by Mathew and found in the Authorized Version. Biblegateway
The governors of among other States, Texas and Illinois, have decided that their States (the idiots think they own them) won't be assisting in the resettling of incoming refugees from Syria. I mention Texas because that State's first bigot has been supported bt a legislator because an embedded terrorist could benefit from Texas' lax gun laws. The idea of changing those laws did not seem to occur.

Here in Illinois we are cursed with a first bigot, but at least most of our legislators have IQ's higher than their shoe size. I suppose I should be grateful. I shall work on it.

Jesus taught us to take care of the stranger, you know like the Syriac Christians persecuted by ISIL. Or the Iraqi woman fleeing the mess we helped make of her country. To date, since 911, something around 700,000 thousand refugees have found their way here. Yes, our standards are high and we do not admit everyone. In those 700,000 there has not been one arrested terrorist. But the State's chief bigots know that Mr. Obama is black, so they assume he will let Syrians in without the background checks and other security tests now in use. Given the governors' stupidity, one wonders why refuges want to come here.

So what can you or I do? We can start by treating Rohner as the irrelevant fool he portrays, and start looking for a real governor. I will donate the website and support for a Draft Jesse White campaign. And we can vote in this general election. Every Democrat we elect is a step closer to ousting the bigots. And with a copy of Mathew 25 handy, we can ask the pseudo-Christians in government, WWJD?

Ask the people of Boston about the Tsaranev brothers, whose family came here as refugees seeking asylum. See if they agree that "In those 700,000 there has not been one arrested terrorist."

Then there's this, from http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/al-qaeda-kentucky-us-dozens-terrorists-country-refugees/story?id=20931131

"Several dozen suspected terrorist bombmakers, including some believed to have targeted American troops, may have mistakenly been allowed to move to the United States as war refugees, according to FBI agents investigating the remnants of roadside bombs recovered from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The discovery in 2009 of two al Qaeda-Iraq terrorists living as refugees in Bowling Green, Kentucky -- who later admitted in court that they'd attacked U.S. soldiers in Iraq -- prompted the bureau to assign hundreds of specialists to an around-the-clock effort aimed at checking its archive of 100,000 improvised explosive devices collected in the war zones, known as IEDs, for other suspected terrorists' fingerprints."

Gov. Rauner says that he wants to suspend resettlement of refugees in Illinois until there's been a review of the Fed's screening procedures. That seems reasonable to me. The Feds themselves say that they don't have good procedures.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/federal-eye/wp/2015/11/17/senior-obama-officials-have-warned-of-challenges-in-screening-refugees-from-syria/

"But one of the senior administration officials at Tuesday’s briefing acknowledged the limitations inherent in screening refugees from Syria, where it’s very difficult to determine something as basic as an applicant’s criminal history.
“We do the best with what we have,” the official said. “We talk to people about what their criminal histories are, and we hear about that. That’s pretty much where we are.”

I'm fine with resettling actual legitimate Syrian refugees in this country, at least until such time as they can return to Syria with a reasonable expectation of safety. Families with kids, unaccompanied minors, etc. - great. Single young men and women of fighting age? Hm. People fitting that description with Syrian documentation - at least one of which was faked - are responsible for what happened in Paris. Caution is advisable in such cases.

And now this:

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/11/18/syrians-with-stolen-passports-caught-before-trying-to-enter-us-police-say/?intcmp=hplnws

"Police in Honduras caught five Syrians who were trying to make their way to the United States with stolen and doctored passports, a law enforcement spokesman for the Central American country said Wednesday.

Police spokesman Anibal Baca told the Associated Press the men were detained on Tuesday at the Tegucigalpa International Airport on an alert from Interpol about the passports."

All 5 being single young men of fighting age. Now, these guys were caught. But Interpol and Honduras are not responsible for our security. We are. And while their documentation apparently was not sophisticated, others may be better.

Ron,it is helpful to get the facts straight before the post. The Tsaranev brothers' father applied for asylum when he came here. That is an entirely different status and program. I am for ending that one and sending back those entering under the asylum program and their kids, starting with Sen. Cruz.

Refugee status, which is something else entire, is granted only after a painstaking vetting which takes between 18 and 24 months.

I saw the story of the young men with the stolen and/or forged passports. One of the reasons they were caught is that they stood out. Refugees are widows with kids fleeing ISL, not military aged young men with Greek papers. That dog won't hunt.

WWJD? The question is still out there.

Thank you, Jim. I guess if one's looking for an excuse to NOT be Christ-like---as did all those Congresspersons, Republican AND Democratic, did today---any old excuse will do. For the (typical) Syrian mothers and children, there's no room in the American inn.
